Pastor Brian Grant shares his thoughts about waiting on God.

I was recently speaking with a young man facing a great challenge who had been praying for God’s intervention for over a year. He was now very frustrated that God had not yet delivered him. Perhaps you’ve been there or may actually be there right now…waiting on God for a miracle.

My devotional yesterday inspired me to share a few thoughts which I trust will be a real encouragement when you’re in a trial and God says, “WAIT!” Let’s be honest, when we’re in the middle of a trial, the last thing we want to hear from God is “Wait!” And yet even while we wait, God is working – He’s actually producing things in our lives while we wait; things like patience, maturity, understanding and character.

Let’s never forget – What God is accomplishing in us while we’re waiting, is often more important than what we’re waiting for. In Genesis 17, when Abraham was seventy-five years old, God promised to make him the “father of many nations.” But Abraham had to wait 24 more years before he received what was promised. What a long wait! But during that extended period, God was molding and shaping his character. God did not forget His promise, He never does. Hebrews 6:15 tells us, “…after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised”.

So let’s wait in hope, keeping an unwavering trust in the God who loves us with an unsurpassable love. He knows what we need but He also knows what he’s producing in us – the character of Christ.

Let me leave you with a verse: Hebrews 10:36 – You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised. Let us know how we can support you in prayer.
